If you are planning a party over Christmas and New Year spare a thought for those who are driving or who aren’t drinking for other reasons. Often the non-drinkers are overlooked at parties and get left to drink something fairly uninspiring: orange juice or a lemonade perhaps.Looking ahead to January you might want to get some nice soft drinks in if you are cutting back on alcohol.
So this year we have been trying out the seasonal selection from Heartsease Farm. We’ve tried their sparkling pressès before and very much enjoyed their fresh tastes. First up for sampling was Fiery Ginger Beer which is just the thing for a cold winter’s evening. This ginger beer really packs a punch and makes you feel warm to the pit of your stomach. Apple and Rhubarb is a lovely refreshing drink with a hint of tartness from the apple and the rhubarb, a great combination. Spiced Winter Cranberry is exactly as it sounds. It’s almost a mulled wine taste with all those Christmassy spices. The cranberry stops it from being over sweet and it’s a lovely red colour. Very much recommended for something a little bit different.
This Christmas/Boxing day I was happy to drink my orange juice and stay away from the alcohol but will check out the Heartsease farm selection.
I’d have loved some of those sparkling drinks this Christmas. As I’m pregnant I had to stay clear of the alcohol and stuck to the cloudy lemonade instead but I’d have loved something a bit more ‘grown up’!
Those sound lovely – when I was pregnant there seemed do little choice especially as I find a lot too sweet (and don’t drunk much fruit juice or Coke). The mulled one would be and great option.
I can’t drink unfortunately but I would still fantasize about drinking the,. The fiery ginger sounds simply divine!
Oh those sound lovely! Wish I had known about them beforehand as I am not a big drinker and would love to have some tasty alternatives to the typical lemonade or squash. I will keep these in mind. Where do you get them? xx

These sound great, I am pregnant so staying away from alcohol this Christmas and instead drunk mainly squash!! However I may look into these for new year as it would be good to have something which is a bit more sophisticated!
We always get a bottle of zero alcohol fruit cider for the holidays, it’s also very good. I think I would like the apple and rhubarb taste and the cranberry taste. Not such a fan of ginger beer, but maybe that’s because here in Belgium we don’t have that and aren’t used to the flavor?
These sound absolutely delightful especially Apple and Rhubarb which sounds as good as it should in a pie x
