York is one of England’s most colourful historical cities, filled with amazing past stories of wars and Viking invasions. It is a great destination for history buffs to visit, and you will never run short of stories.

To enjoy the city of York, you must walk through its streets, as it can take you through different eras and periods, from Roman baths and mediaeval churches to modern-day pubs and shopping malls.

One of the city’s most popular landmarks is the York Minster, whose current cathedral has sat imposingly since the 13th century. You can also find some Roman ruins underneath the cathedral. The streets of York are also filled with narrow, winding paths with unique stores. You can even spend your day exploring a recreation of a classic Victorian-themed York village with fully costumed guides.

  • Grantham

Grantham is one of the UK’s best towns to live in. One of the world’s most important historical figures, Sir Isaac Newton, was born near the town and attended Grantham’s, King School. The town was also home to the UK’s first female prime minister, Margaret Thatcher. Asides from producing notable people, Grantham is home to several historical landmarks.

One of the first stops on your list should be Belvoir Castle, the home of the Duchess of Bedford, Anna Russell. In the 1840s, Anna invented the concept of afternoon tea, and this practice has become the UK’s favourite pastime. It’s the perfect place to enjoy some afternoon tea in Grantham, so keep this in mind. You can also check out the Grantham Museum and some stunning parks and majestic homes.
