My favourite memory of chocolate is when I was young (many years ago!) and Santa left me a gorgeous decorated Terry’s jewellery box style box of chocolates. I kept the box for many years it was so lovely and put my jewellery in it.

My birthday is around Easter and many years ago as a child I was given a very large hand made Easter Egg. It was covered with sugar flowers etc and had hand made chocolates nestled on tissue paper inside. It was beautiful and I’ve never seen one as nice since. I didn’t want to open it until my brother decided enough was enough and broke into it for the chocolates!

I had a craft kit when I was a kid to make a plaster Miss Piggy ornament. In my ultimate wisdom, I decided to make a chocolate version using the mould. It was solid cooking chocolate and not very appetising at all! My mother was very gracious in her acceptance of my gift but I’m guessing it didn’t get eaten. I’m sure these chocolate gingers will be much more edible.

I remember my Dad cutting up a chocolate into four pieces so that we each had a very small piece! This was just after the War when there was still sugar rationing and even a piece of a chocolate was a real treat!
I remember when I was about 6, making chocolate mice using a mould I’d got as a present. There was mess literally everywhere, but it was a lot of fun!

Although I do not like chocolate (im hoping to win this for my wife) – my favourite chocolate memory is very recent. Just this week my daughters dance school all travelled to London to visit Pineapple Studios for a dance workshop (great fun – highly recommended) – and afterwards, we walked around London visiting of all places M and M World. Just watching the kids run through the store looking at all the chocolate products with their smiles and happy faces was fantastic.
My first chocolate memory was walking to school to save my bus money to buy a Creme Egg on the way home!
