Dermoperfection invited me to try out the Celora Vita: the protein facial as part of their 4th birthday celebrations. I’ve been trying to incorporate more protein into my diet and I’ve found that quite hard to do. So naturally I was intrigued by the idea of protein for your face.
I’m always interested in ways to look after my skin and keep it looking fresh and healthy. As we get older, our skin changes, and I like the idea of treatments that aim to improve its quality rather than dramatically change the way we look. I was curious to find out whether this protein facial could give my skin a boost and, of course, what having the treatment would actually feel like.
What is Celora Vita?
Celora Vita is an injectable skin treatment from DermaFocus, offered at Dermoperfection in Birmingham. It’s described as a protein facial, although it’s rather different from the sort of facial you might have at a beauty salon. Instead of applying products to the surface of your skin, the treatment delivers its ingredients directly into the skin using a series of tiny injections.
The idea behind it is quite straightforward. Collagen and elastin are proteins that help keep our skin firm and supple, while amino acids are the building blocks the body uses to make them. As our skin ages, its natural processes change, which can contribute to dehydration, a loss of elasticity and the appearance of fine lines.
Celora Vita contains nine amino acids, combined with low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid. The amino acids provide building blocks involved in collagen and elastin production, while hyaluronic acid helps attract and retain moisture in the skin. The nine amino acids are isoleucine, leucine, lysine, proline, valine, glycine, serine, alanine and cysteine. Each has a role in processes associated with skin structure, hydration or repair.
The treatment is designed to improve overall skin quality, helping to hydrate the skin, restore its natural glow, refine texture whilst improving firmness and elasticity. It isn’t a dermal filler, so it isn’t intended to add volume or change your facial contours, and it doesn’t work by relaxing muscles like anti-wrinkle injections like botox.
A typical course involves three treatments spaced around three weeks apart. While some people may notice improved hydration and radiance within the first week, improvements in firmness and fine lines can develop more gradually over the following weeks.
My experience of the Celora Vita protein facial
Of course, reading about a treatment is one thing, but experiencing it for yourself is another. I was interested to see how it would feel and whether I’d notice a difference afterwards.
During the application, I could feel little pinpricks as the product was injected into my skin. Most were just a slight prick, although there were a couple that were more than a touch painful (near the mouth). Overall, though, it was very manageable and not nearly as daunting as the idea of having lots of tiny injections into your face might suggest.
Afterwards, my skin had some blotchy patches. This was quite noticeable initially, but the good news was that they disappeared quickly, within around 10 to 15 minutes. Once that initial redness and blotchiness had settled, I didn’t have any further downtime.
I was pleased that I could get on with my day without having to allow for a lengthy recovery period. I’d been prepared for the possibility that my skin might look a little worse before it looked better, so it was reassuring to see the immediate effects settle down so quickly.
Since having the treatment, my skin has perked up. It looks fresher, and I’m pleased with how it has been looking. That was what I was hoping for, rather than a dramatic change to my appearance.
It’s worth remembering that Celora Vita is generally recommended as a course of treatments, so one session isn’t necessarily the full picture. The manufacturer and clinic describe the results as progressive, with improvements building over time. My experience so far has been encouraging, particularly given how quickly my skin settled after the injections.
Disclosure: I was invited by Dermoperfection to try the Celora Vita protein facial free of charge as part of their 4th birthday celebrations. All opinions and experiences are my own.
