The beaches
There are more than seventy blue-flag beaches on the island, and the water here has been judged some of the cleanest in all of Europe. As such, it’s an ideal location for those who’d like to spend a week or so lounging on the beach, or indulging in some watersports.

Or, there’s the famous souvlaki, which is a kind of kebab that’s also very popular in Greece.
There are plenty of stellar restaurants in Cyprus, ranging from rustic, authentic eateries to more sophisticated Michellin-starred offerings. Do your research ahead of time, and book your restaurants early to avoid disappointment. If you’re travelling outside of peak season, then you’ll usually find it easier to get a table.
Climate
One of the defining features of this part of the world is the Mediterranean climate. The sunshine is glorious for most of the year, meaning that you don’t have to come right in the middle of summer to enjoy an amazing break. The island, being an island, receives plenty of wind – so you’ll rarely feel stifled by the heat, even when it’s at its most intense. Travel during August, and you can expect temperatures in the mid-thirties. Plan your activities accordingly!
