August 15, 2024 by Erica Hughes Leave a Comment

Therapy dogs have become increasingly prominent in recent years as people realise the significant mental and physical health benefits that they can provide to those in need of support. Dogs trained to provide comfort, support, and affection to those who need it can help those suffering from many different conditions and are used in different environments. Keep reading to find out more.

Understand the Role of Therapy Dogs

Therapy dogs are different from service dogs in that they are trained to provide support to those who need it rather than perform specific tasks for those with disabilities, such as seeing eye dogs for those with vision difficulties. Therapy dogs are common in many different settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and disaster areas. They will have undergone various training processes, including spotting those who need help, socialisation, obedience, and exposure to different environments.

Qualifications are also important for both therapy dogs and handles to ensure that they meet the requirements for the role. Organisations can use a claims calculator to assess costs involved and make an informed decision.

Mental Health Benefits of Therapy Dogs

Many people get mental health benefits from spending time with dogs, but therapy dogs can help alleviate symptoms of different mental health conditions. Exposure to therapy dogs can improve mood and emotional regulation, reduce stress and anxiety, and even improve social interactions. This means therapy dogs can provide mental health benefits for those with depression, anxiety, PTSD, autism, and more. With mental health issues on the rise, it is likely that therapy dogs will become more prominent as people realise the significant mental health benefits that they can provide to people of all ages.

Physical Health Benefits of Therapy Dogs

Therapy dogs can also provide wide-ranging physical health benefits. They encourage physical activity, such as walking and playing, which can help lower blood pressure, improve cardiovascular health, and aid in physical rehabilitation. This also means that therapy dogs can help those recovering from surgeries by speeding up the healing process and helping those living with chronic pain manage symptoms and improve their quality of life.

It is easy to see why therapy dogs are become more prevalent as a way to improve the physical and mental well-being of those in need of support. These are highly trained canines that can recognise signs that someone is in need of support and will proved affection and care that can help them improve their mental well-being and even improve their physical health.

Dad Rock Enters a New Era on Father’s Day, Going From Retro to Relevant

June 10, 2024 by Erica Hughes Leave a Comment

With Father’s Day fast coming, what better way to celebrate than scare your kids silly with the ultimate dad rock mix?

Regtransfers, the private number plate company transfers, has put together the “Ultimate Dad Rock Driving Playlist for Father’s Day,” which is an unexpected mix of modern and old Spotify tracks. Before we discuss the new music that may shock younger Dads, let’s define “Dad Rock.”

The preferred music of older generations, especially fathers, has long been called “dad rock” in this sense. It typically comprises of traditional rock music, which is distinguished by actual drumming, guitars, and a simple rock sound.

Every generation claims to be critical of the music of the previous one, only for its own preferences to eventually become the next “dad rock.” What was once seen as audacious and fearless is now viewed nostalgically.

A badge of honour that many fathers—and even grandfathers—wear, “dad rock” denotes music with timeless appeal. The increasing demand for dad rock CDs and playlists indicates that there is a rising respect for the genre.

The next generation of “Dad Rock,” however, ages along with fathers, which will make some dads feel like they’re from the Stone Age! These are a some of the most iconic songs from the Beatles catalogue that are now labelled as “Dad Rock.”

You May Not Have Known These Songs Were “Dad Rock”

“Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle)” by Limp Bizkit may seem too contemporary for dad rock, despite the song’s almost 20-year existence. Blur’s “Song 2” and Green Day’s “American Idiot” are included in the mix, demonstrating how early 2000s songs have evolved into dad rock staples.

Songs you used to enjoy, like “Can’t Stop” by Red Hot Chilli Peppers or “Morning Glory” by Oasis, may surprise you to learn that they are now classified as dad rock. Dad rock’s bounds have extended, as seen by the surprising inclusions of “Oh My God” by Kaiser Chiefs and “Stupid Girl” by Garbage.

A spot in the dad rock hall of fame has been awarded to two 2000s hits: “Chelsea Dagger” by The Fratellis and “All the Small Things” by Blink-182. The inclusion of covers of “Smooth Criminal” by Alien Ant Farm and “In Too Deep” by Sum 41 on the list serves as further proof that the early 2000s were a pivotal period in the evolution of dad rock.

Even more recent songs have fulfilled the criteria, such “Learn to Fly” by Foo Fighters and “Somebody Told Me” by The Killers. One should not disregard dad rock classics such as ‘This Ain’t a Scene, It’s an Arms Race’ by Fall Out Boy and ‘Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)’ by The Offspring.

“Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana is a timeless classic, while “The Girl All The Bad Guys Want” by Bowling for Soup is a delightful addition. The performance ends with “Numb” by Linkin Park, demonstrating the impact of dad rock on nu-metal.

Where Did “Dad Rock” Get His Name?

Originally, the phrase “dad rock” was used to make fun of the musical tastes of older people, especially fathers who were huge fans of bands from the 1970s and 1980s. Imagine a parent wearing worn jeans and an old tour t-shirt, telling everybody who would listen, “They just don’t make music like they used to.”

The term “Dad Rock” was first used in the new century by music journalists and online forums to refer to classic rock songs that appealed to older men. It was a spoof on the notion that, at some point, usually around age 20, your taste in music becomes irreversible. In the 2000s, the “Dad Rock” controversy often centred on musicians such as The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and The Eagles.

However, the phrase’s meaning evolved throughout time. What was formerly considered a rather disparaging nickname has evolved into a badge of honour for many. Fathers embraced the concept and wore their status as “dad rock” like a badge. These were the tunes that captured their early years, served as the background music for their carefree years, and eventually served as a reassuring soundtrack for their family life.

“Dad rock” has a certain appeal since it is frank. It is not limited to a certain genre or time period. Classic rock may have been the origin of it in the 1960s and 1970s, but it has since expanded to heavy metal, grunge, and punk in the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s. To put it briefly, if you’re old enough to be a father, the kid-friendly music you used to listen to is now referred to as “dad rock.” It’s a dynamic objective that changes with every generation.

The actual ‘Dad Rock’

What music did you listen to over the speakers of your Ford Fiesta in the early 2000s? You’re not as youthful as you once believed you were, even if it seems like a far-off memory. But what if you came to terms with that? “Dad Rock”?

Why not make the most of your time spent in your vehicle this Father’s Day by educating your children about the music your father used to enjoy? They are unable to complain for even a day!

Five Ways To Pamper Your Pooch

May 28, 2024 by Erica Hughes Leave a Comment

If ‘being a dog’ could be a job, it would probably be the best job in the world. Being part of a loving family, having your every need attended to on the daily, and getting to play with your best friend for hours a day every day; all of these are blissful truths that our furry friends get to enjoy for the entirety of their time with us.

As a loving and well-loved member of the family, your dog is already getting the best life they could ever get. And yet, we often don’t feel like we’ve gone far enough in pampering our pal! When your pooch deserves the very best, it’s time to give it to them; try any number of the following ways you can properly pamper your favourite furry friend.

Create An At-Home Dog Spa

If the term ‘doggy paddling’ teaches us anything, it should be that dogs absolutely love the water – that is, if you haven’t already found out the hard way after an impromptu dunk in your local lake… Rather than letting them gunk up their fur with pondwater, why not treat them to the business with a dog-friendly spa session? You could give them a warm bath with pampering shampoos and nice-smelling treatments, or even just combine a paddling pool with a hose on one of the hotter days of the year. Either way, be sure to give their muscles some attention with an attentive rub.

Gourmet Treats

Just as we thrive on having little treats here and there, be they chocolates, gummy sweets or posh crisps, so too would your dog absolutely love some tasty snacks in-between meals. Some breeds might require a more tailored diet of sensitive dog food in order to properly meet their digestive needs, but this shouldn’t mean that special treats are off-limits. Indeed, you could even look to making your own healthy alternatives!

Plenty Of Playtime

Another given when it comes to your dog’s favourite pastimes is, naturally, playtime. Walkies is a favourite time of day for practically every dog, and for those that are less enthusiastic about getting out and about there’s always a favourite toy to nuzzle around the house. Investing a little more in some high-quality toys could absolutely make your pooch’s day, whether a whistling frisbee for outdoors or a new favourite blanky for indoors.

Comfortable & Stylish Living Spaces

Speaking of favourite blankets, comfort is a crucial part of the equation when it comes to pampering your pooch. As well as playing hard, your furry baby needs to rest hard – and creating the perfect snoozing environment for them can be highly rewarding. Put some money towards a proper high-quality bed with soft cushions, and create a moody little zone for your dog to conk out in after the day’s fun and festivities. This can also be a remarkable help with managing anxiety and other such mental health conditions!
