Tartan Rug From Buyakilt.com

February 5, 2014 by Erica Hughes 2 Comments

discount code for buyakiltIt’s lovely to review a product that you can use every day and that provides a little, affordable luxury into everyday life.  As I write this piece I have my Ramsay Blue Tartan Blanket Rug tucked around my legs keeping me cosy and warm in my rather draughty, Edwardian house.

As you can see it’s a handsome looking rug made from 100% pure, new wool and produced to a high quality standard.  It measures 5 foot by 6 foot approximately, which is a good size for snuggling up on the sofa, as a throw or a picnic blanket come the summer.  The fringed edges add a nice decorative touch too.  The blanket is priced at £25.20 currently which is good value for a top quality product.  The other good news is that readers of A Little Luxury For Me can get a reduced price by using a special discount code for buyakilt of luxury10.  This buyakilt voucher code will get you 10% off any of the products on the buyakilt.com website.  Buyakilt.com are a Scottish Highland dress supplier and stock a wide range of products from kilts to hats, shoes to scarves.

Gone Crabbing

January 10, 2014 by Erica Hughes 54 Comments

gone crabbing teatowel and mugHave you come across Gone Crabbing before?  If not, you should really visit their website or if you are in East Anglia they have shops in Burnham Deepdale and Southwold.  I really wish there was a shop closer to us as they look like amazing places to browse and are full of the most vibrant colours.  Gone Crabbing is a family run business set up by Susie Mason in 2008.  Many of the designs are inspired by Susie’s home county of Norfolk and her memories of going crabbing as a child.

We’ve been trying out these great oven gloves from Gone Crabbing.  I’m a bit fussy when it comes to oven gloves: they need to be well padded (don’t want any nasty hot shocks) and they need to be flexible enough for me to be able to hold things easily.  I’m pleased to report that these Great British Dishes Double Oven Gloves score highly on both counts.  They’re made in the UK from 100% cotton drill and have a fun prin,t with the names of various British culinary favourites like roast beef, haggis and yorkshire pudding  plus a few rareties like Cullen Skink (does anyone know what that is?).

Gone Crabbing Tea TowelAs well as the oven gloves, we’ve been trying out some of the products with a sailing motif.  I’m loving the colours and the simple shapes of the sailing boats upon the sea.  The Gone Sailing tea towel is a top quality product made from 100% cotton and it has even got its own hanging loop. If you have a boat, this would be the perfect tea towel for your galley or it can add a nautical theme to your kitchen.  Our Sailing Mug is very sweet and much sought after in our house.  Good news too that it is dishwasher safe and made from bone china.

Tesco Christmas Decorations

December 10, 2013 by Erica Hughes 2 Comments

Tesco Red Flocked ReindeerTesco’s have a wonderful range of Christmas decorations this year.  These Tesco Christmas Decorations look great and they won’t break the budget either.

This Red Flocked Reindeer costs just £6, but he has a presence that belies his low price and smallish size (33cm tall).  He instantly adds a little Christmas cheer to a mantelpiece or a shelf.  He’s also available in gold if that suits your scheme better.

I’ve teamed him up with these Wooden Stars.  They’re intended as hanging decorations really for the Christmas tree and come with slightly rustic, brown strings so they can dangle from your tree.  You could easily dot them around your room and have them standing or hanging as suits you. A pack of 6 stars costs £3.

Tesco Christmas DecorationsReindeers are a bit of a theme for us this year and I love these Glitter Reindeer Decorations also from Tesco.  There are three lovely, glittery colours available and they cost £2 each, but they are currently 3 for 2.
