Baylis and Harding Autumn Winter 2013

I’m a bit of a fan of Baylis and Harding with their high quality, but thoroughly affordable toiletries. Last year I visited their head office and this year I’ve been sampling the Baylis and Harding Autumn Winter 2013 range.

Royale Bouquet Lemon Blossom and White Rose has been just the thing to get me started each morning with its fresh, citrus notes. It’s a lovely combination to have the combination of the lime, yuzu and orange with the floral scents of jasmine and white rose. I like the fact too that you can use a whole suite of products with the same scent, so you can layer your fragrance.

Have you come across Baylis and Harding’s Beauticology brand yet? They have some fabulous new variants for Christmas 2013. I’ve found the Beauticology Chocolatier the ultimate indulgence and we all love a little chocolate at Christmas don’t we? But, the Beauticology Candy Cane range runs it a close second with its fun fragrances like lemon drops and cherry and apple. Within the Beauticology brand you’ll find sets that are great for stocking fillers, as well as reasonably priced larger sets, so there’s something for every price band. There’s a top of the range £40 set featuring a weekend bag filled with Beauticology goodies, which I’ve got my eye on for my Christmas list.

Asda NSPA Range

Over the last few weeks I’ve been trying out some products from Asda’s nspa range. Asda’s exclusive nspa products are the result of years of experience at the Nirvana Spa. It seemed like a great idea to me: to bring that spa experience to good value products.

There are three different fragrance offerings in the range: Orient, Bloom and Pure, so there should be one to suit most people. I opted to try out the Pure scent. It comes packaged in a simple, elegant, slimline bottle. It’s described as ‘beach breezes, lush lilies and aquatic auras – with sophisticated tones of Lotus Flower, White Freesia and Jasmine, this fragrance is infused with essential oil of Sandalwood for a clean and uplifting aroma.’ Now I’m no fragrance expert, but it certainly has a clean, fresh scent with a light floral element. It’s perfect as a daytime fragrance, but it could be used in the evening too.

I’ve also been trying out a couple of nspa’s moisturisers from the Beauty Rituals range. Both the Beauty Balm and the Brightening Day Cream have a SPF of 15. I’ve been very impressed. They both feel very light on the skin, but are not lightweight in their effects.

The Beauty Balm is formulated to ‘minimise the appearance of fine lines and blemishes with light, natural colour for beautiful, dewy skin’. It’s essentially a tinted moisturiser with anti-ageing moisturisers. I like to wear tinted moisturiser in the summer, but it’s nice to have one that is designed to work hard for my skin too.

The Brightening Day Cream is a year round daily moisturiser. I’d be happy to use this on a long-term basis. It does everything I expect of more expensive moisturisers without the high price tag.
