We’re here to answer an important travel-related question; Is Plymouth worth visiting? For those who don’t know, Plymouth is a city on England’s South Coast, and it is famous for its historical importance and its innate talent to lure tourists. Plymouth combines the luxuries of an urban area and the peace of a coastal city. There is a plethora of fun activities to do and historic sights to admire, making it a truly awesome place to visit. We are going to back up our opinion by presenting the reasons that make us believe that Plymouth is worth visiting.

Reason 1: The Mayflower

The best way to learn and absorb knowledge is by going to the places where history was made. Plymouth played an important role in the shaping of the world as we know it today as the Mayflower ship took the first English colonists to The New World. This famous ship sailed from the port in Plymouth. You can learn more about this significant historical event and the whole period at The Mayflower Museum and at The Mayflower Steps Memorial.

Reason 2: Take in the beautiful coastal environment

If you are a sea lover, chances are that you are going to love Plymouth. The city offers numerous chances to gaze at the vast sea or feel the constant motion of rivers. Hoe Park is the spot where you must spend a couple of hours if you want to admire the majesty of the natural environment and enjoy the view of the Plymouth Sound. In this park, you should also look for the Smeaton’s Tower. You should climb the stairs of this tower and gaze at the lovely view from there. Additionally, you can stroll along the River Tamar and River Plym.

Reason 3: Visit cool nearby attractions

Plymouth knows how not to bore you as it is surrounded by interesting places that are worth visiting. Instead of wasting time on looking for the best means of public transport and adjusting your travel plans to its timetable, you should take full control of your journey by hiring a car. The process of Plymouth car hire from Enjoy Travel  is extremely easy as you can not only compare the vehicles and the prices offered from many different major car hire firms on the spot but also book the ideal one for you online. This gives you the freedom to visit places like Saltram House, Cotehele House, Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park in Cornwall.

Reason 4: A wide range of historic buildings

There are many impressive attractions in Plymouth as well. The city is full of lofty buildings that belong to an older era and create a sophisticated atmosphere. The Royal Chapel of St. Katherine-upon-the-Hoe and the whole Royal Citadel, the Minster Church of St Andrew, the Prysten House and Guildhall are a few of the venues you must see.
