It’s not spring yet, but after Christmas I do feel the urge to do some cleaning and not just the usual daily or weekly stuff, I’m talking about getting the house deep down clean. I think it’s partly because the home gets a lot of use over Christmas with plenty of visitors, but also because with the tree up, it’s not so easy to get into all the corners so they are in need of some attention. Maybe it’s something about New Year’s resolutions and the wish to do things better, like keeping your home clean and tidy. So I was glad to team up with ACE to offer my readers the chance to get a head start on their post Christmas cleaning this year or an early start to some spring cleaning. I can offer an ACE product bundle worth £20 each for two lucky readers.
The Vitamin C Skin Hydrating ProInfusion Serum is designed to hydrate, soothe and protect the skin from harmful free-radicals caused by chronic sun exposure. With a powerhouse of antioxidants the Vitamin C Skin Hydrating ProInfusion Serum provides a secondary line of protection against photodamage leaving the patients hydrated, glowing and protected.
This is a facial you can have done in your lunch hour because it doesn’t take very long at all: less than half an hour. My skin looked healthy and glowing afterwards, so it would have been easy to go back to work afterwards. During the facial you’ll feel some pressure, but it’s far from uncomfortable. The exfoliation part of the process uses a real diamond tip to give an even exfoliation across your skin and to clear away the dry, damaged top layer. The patented closed-looped vacuum pressure is used to extract dirt, debris and bacteria from the skin’s surface.
Whilst I was slightly horrified by the amount of dead skin, dirt and grime collected by the end of my treatment, I was assured my skin was actually quite clear. The serum going in is clear in colour, so all the colour relates to impurities taken out of your skin. I had thought I was mostly over blackheads, but there were a few lurking in the clear jar at the end. A lot of the serum had been absorbed by my skin which was good news. I think my skin clearly needed a good drink.

We tried a number of the cocktails from the selection on offer and a few of the desserts from the menu. There’s very much a Christmas theme going on especially with the drinks selection. You can order from a wide range of beers, wines and spirits or you can opt for one of the cocktails. Once Upon A Time In Birmingham seems made for

Sadler’s Brewing Co. has announced the launch of Brewer’s Social Harborne, the third venue in its expanding roster which includes Sadler’s Brewhouse & Bar in Lye and Sadler’s Taproom Quinton. Alongside Sadler’s award-winning ales and spirits, the all-day venue will offer collaborative and special edition brews; craft spirits and cocktails and well as a wide range of food. From brunch and morning coffee and cake, through lunch to an exciting evening menu featuring unique slow-cooked and BBQ dishes, sourcing and provenance of ingredients will be at the heart of everything.
I was invited along to try out the new food range and sample some of Sadler’s fine beers. The Brewer’s Social in Harborne is on the same premises as the pop-up, but a number of changes have been made to the decor, plus there’s a new kitchen and the upper floor is now open to provide extra seating. There’s a good mixture of hard and softer surfaces which is great for comfort and means that noise levels don’t get too high. This a place that you can while away an afternoon or an evening very comfortably.

“Our Horton Suite has always been one of the biggest event spaces in the city, but now it is definitely one of the most stylish. It was an extensive project and no detail has been overlooked. Materials were sourced from around the country and specialist craftsmen completed intricate projects, including the restoration of the chandeliers. We worked with many fine Birmingham-based tradesmen to complete construction in a careful but timely manner. The final event suite is both grand and opulent, but also feels modern and contemporary. All facilities have been completely refreshed, and the room boasts excellent lighting and hi-tech equipment.”
The completion of the Horton Suite follows an extensive modernisation programme, which saw more than 16 meeting rooms undergo refurbishment. Each room was fitted with 75” flat-screen LCD screens and state of the art ClickShare technology which allows multiple delegates to connect their devices to the main presentation screen and share content at the click of a button. Delegates will also have access to Meet Point Network, which offers delegates a space to network before and after meetings.
Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse Bar and Grill, Birmingham has amazing views over the city, in fact I don’t think there is another restaurant in the whole of the city that can boast views as good as this one. We were seated one table in from the windows which was slightly disappointing, but we did book late on and the restaurant was quite busy as it was the tail end of Sunday lunch. You can still see the view reasonably well and we both had views out of the window due to the positioning of the chairs. I’ve been before and sat right by the window, but found that one of us had our back to the view, so there are some advantages to being sat a little further in.
